You may notice a stack of posts have popped up out of nowhere. I went back and did up some posts for all of the sketches I scanned in a while ago, since there are actually people out there who read the blog. So that’s the reason. I haven’t created much art at all lately, but Uni starts again tomorrow, and I will hopefully have a lot more to show you all this year. I’m taking a couple of art classes as electives, as well as a semester of 2D animation as part of my major!

That aside, here are the only pieces I’ve posted on deviantART so far this year. Feel free to check out my gallery for more.

Art Trade – A Summer’s Night by ~Hikarino on deviantART

An art trade with one of my online friends. I won’t go into detail about it here, but I will say that it was good practice for a number of things, especially backgrounds. Even if I’m unhappy with it, I learnt a lot, and that’s what’s important.

The few sketches I did during February that I’ve actually scanned onto my computer were all done around Valentine’s Day, oddly. They’re also all of my character Jeni.

(13th February) I felt like drawing something “pretty” and was also trying to draw something I could use for a tutorial on how I colour and such that I’ve promised some people. I discovered I’ve forgotten how to draw side faces ):

(14th February) Because this is the kind of thing I draw on Valentine’s day. Action! Just kidding, it’s just any old day to me really, pose experimentation is just fun.

(15th February) More side view/profile practice, as well as pose experimentation. It’s fun to not be concentrating on anatomy once in while.

These images were done in late January. I’d recently gotten a few new songs and was inspired to draw, I also felt like getting out my felt tip pen and hand inking for once. The results could have been better.

Perspective practice while listening to Valshe’s cover of Migikata no chou (Butterfly on your Right Shoulder).  I think the main thing letting this down is the headphones. If you can’t read the date, it was done on the 26th.

I’ve been considering re-designing one of my characters, and this was an attempt to do so. It was better before I inked it, sadly. The nonsensical creases were fun to draw though. (Done on the 27th)

I haven’t been drawing much, but I have done a few sketches lately, so to the blog they go~ Most images are of my character Jeni, who will be one of the main characters in my webcomic-to-be.

“Now then, shall we begin?”

This was drawn late December, just to see whether or not I was still capable of drawing.

Drawn January sometime. I think I wanted to draw someone laying down or relaxing or something, so I went with Jeni of course. She’s chewing on her necklace, thinking. I thought it was okay, then my sister pointed out how off her face is. Ah well, learning, learning.

Also drawn January sometime, I was listening to VOCALOID Megpoid/Gumi’s cover of a song called BLUE DOOR. It was very relaxing, and being about dolphins, made me think of the ocean. So you get this, just a relaxed swimming image, albeit with terrible anatomy.

But before I get into today’s post, I’ll do something a little different. This is my latest picture, which I’ve posted over at my dA. Click if you’d like to see it in full, plus my little ramblings about it! c:

And now. Today I decided to try and work out a set outfit for my character Eva. But the sketch got reeeeally dark so I ended up inking it traditionally.

So much anatomy fail D: It’s been a while since I’ve drawn a full person in my normal style. Or inked traditionally.

I then coloured it, but today I decided to try a very simple anime cel-shade. In other words, all the shading was done on one layer, in one colour, then a layer style was used to make it fit.

This is a different method to my usual one, and the results aren’t nearly as nice xD But as one with an interest in how they do anime’s shading, it was a fun little experiment. Plus it was quick. So I decided to take it one quick step further.

Ahaha. I had fun anyway. And now I have a ref of sorts for drawing her. Only she usually wears a jacket too.

Her clothes ended up kind of similar to those of a character in an anime Dx But hopefully they aren’t -too- similar…

Well. Since deviantART decided it doesn’t want to let me load any pages, I’m uploading this here, but I’ll upload it to dA when it stops being stupid too, even if this is just a quick piece.

Just a quick short comic I did to relax tonight because I haven’t had any time to draw lately and I’ve been a tad stressed. Also because this happened to me this morning; I thought I’d sleep a little longer and juuust as I was falling asleep someone sent me a message. Typical isn’t it?

Hrm. Just some sketches I drew a while back which, despite having uploaded half a month ago, I never got around to posting. I think I sketched this first sketch back in September… I really haven’t been drawing much lately D: Anyway, I was trying to work out a set outfit for Max as well as make him look a bit more male, but I still need to work on that xD Still, I like the jacket.

There’s also a random cat I drew because I was reminiscing about last year, and I drew him a lot towards the end of Year 12 last year.

Neeext! Is a sketch I drew for Ecmm over at deviantART, as fan art for her short, almost finished webcomic Perception! </plug>

Uuuuutter fail. I can’ draw more than one person together at all xD; Thus this is remaining as a sketch; I’m going to draw another, better fan art for her later, which I will CG and all c: I hope anyway!

And lastly… I think anyone who is looking at this will have seen this already, because the only people I know of who look are people I know already xD But anyway. My latest CG. Also the first CG I’ve done completely on the computer (completely in Photoshop even!) in a looong while, I do believe.

So, I now have a new avatar on dA (though it may be temporary depending on how long someone takes to draw their ‘sona for me so I can make us matching icons. D<) Since I draw myself too much, and there’s nothing really special about the picture (bar the fact that I freaking love how the hair came out), not to mention anatomy mistakes abound, I’ll just put it here.

Hey look it’s me again. Messing around with perspective cause Ecmm from dA reminded me that I don’t nearly enough. I plan to ink/colour this sometime this week despite the mistakes, which I will try to fix, and this one will go up on dA. More reason not to up the other one.

C: I love drawing Jeni~ I decided to come up with a set outfit for her, at least for now, so I have something to draw her in when I’m not in the mood to come up with clothes.
