First picture for 2012 and it’s… this. I like how it came out, but there’s a lot I could have drawn better. Anyway, it was mainly something I drew so I could use it to replace the Christmas-themed picture I was still using on facebook/twitter.

This is my half of a trade from the beginning of the year, which I have finally completed! I started it in July, and didn’t look at it again until today when I decided to finish it. There’s a lot that could be improved on, but after staring at the grass for too long I wasn’t sure what was what anymore :’D Still, I’d like to think it’s an improvement on my previous attempt at grass.

I haven’t drawn much this year >_< I’ve done a few things for Uni here and there that I’ll share another day, but I’m out of practice none-the-less and quite unhappy with this. Here’s to re-finding my skills.

Anyway! I’ve been meaning to rewatch Kiki’s Delivery Service, so it was on my mind, so I drew a Kiki. Then Bonn turned the girl she was drawing into Kiki. It’s neat seeing the differences in our styles next to each other like this ^^ I can’t wait to watch the movie again now.

First day back at Uni today… I’m excited, scared and, above all, tired. Anyway, our 3D lecture today made me want to draw a sock puppet, so there you go.

In other news, I got art block a few days before the end of the holidays. Terrible timing considering I wanted to get my half of a trade done before they ended T_T To the tradee, I hope your first day back was good! ;~; (and I’m sorry.)

I’ve been drawing this week, really. It’s just most of it’s been studying anatomy and such. Also one picture I drew mid-week which I’m not showing the sketch of until it’s done. Anyway, I decided to draw sometime after midnight instead of going to bed. Then I slept.

It’s my real life friend Gemma’s birthday today, so I got up and drew her some sketches while listening to stuff on mum’s computer… Which proceeded to die when I was ready to scan them in. Thankfully mum was okay about it, possibly because I’d worked myself into tears panicking :’D In the meantime she said I could plug my laptop into her monitor, something I’ve never done before (she just bought a new one last week because the old one died, funnily enough).

23″ of screen space *___* It’s pretty awesome except not very ergonomically friendly right now.

With the help of the trusty old scanner we’ve had since I was in primary school, I managed to CG this before the day was over. The only thing I’m overly happy with is the amount of time it took me… It was pretty fast compared to what my speed would have been a few months ago! I’ll be CGing the chibi!Gemma tomorrow, but for now, sleep.

To finish, I love how colours display differently on different screens @_@ This is way brighter on the LCD, which is funny because my laptop’s screen is apparently brighter than every other screen on the planet as it is.
